Guillaume Connesson studied piano, choir conducting, orchestral conducting and orchestration at the Conservatoires of Boulogne-Billancourt and Paris, as well as composition with Marcel Landowski. His music has been played by orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Miami New World Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Houston Symphony Orchestra. Connesson, who currently teaches orchestration at the Conservatoire National d'Aubervilliers-la-Courneuve, is published by Billaudot.
As a composer, he asserts influences as various as François Couperin, Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Igor Stravinsky, Olivier Messiaen, Henri Dutilleux, Steve Reich and John Adams but also movie composers such as Bernard Herrmann and John Williams, or even James Brown.
