Special thanks to Benjamin Vernet, Head of Communications, for his warm welcome and support throughout the projet. We could not have dreamt of a better place to get lost in time than this hidden gem located near the canal St Martin, in one of the liveliest districts of Paris.
The harp used in this video is a Lyon\u0026Healy Salzedo model, created in 1928 for legendary harpist Carlos Salzedo and designed in the Art Deco style popular in the 1920s. It was kindly lent to us by L’Instrumentarium Paris (http://www.linstrumentarium.fr), the exclusive distributor for Lyon\u0026Healy and Salvi harps in France. L’Instrumentarium is a magical place blessed with a lovely team. If you are ever in Paris, pay them a visit !

This piece, written by French composer Matthieu Vinel, is a ragtime — a music style born in the African American communities of St Louis, Missouri and widely popular between 1890 and 1920. Ragtimes are most often played on the piano, and characterized by a lively and strongly syncopated melodic line combined to a steady and regularly accented accompaniment on the bass. One of the ancestor of jazz, ragtime also influenced classical composers in the first decades of the 20th century, including Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, Antonín Dvořák, Darius Milhaud, Arthur Honegger, and Igor Stravinsky.
