Сhabuka Amiranashvili - Colored Man [Full Album]
You just cannot confuse the sound of Chabuka Amiranashvili's plaintive sax with anything else. In almost all Georgian pop records of 90s and 00s (many of which he himself produced) that feature saxophone, it is he who is playing. Having had a rich experience in jazz (collaboration with Keith Tippett in the early 90s is perhaps one of the highlights), he subsequently gravitated towards ethnic music, where he also developed a signature semi-electronic sound that were could be used both dancing halls and traditional dances. This album presents something that is right in-between his two sources of inspiration, with light, airy jazz (think of Jan Garbarek in the 90s) put head to head with ethnic-sounding, beautiful melodies.
To clarify, the world \"colored\" was apparently used with the meaning of \"colorful\".
