In April 2016 I visited Tbilisi Georgia for the first time. I was allowed to watch the famous Sukhishvili dance troupe practicing. And I had a chance to interview Nino Sukhishvili, Artistic Director and granddaughter of Iliko Sukhishvili and Nino Ramishvili who started the company back in the 1940s. We discussed the origins of Sukhishvili and Georgian folk dances an their revival. This is the first of a three part series on Sukhishvili. We will also see the men and women practicing in two more separate videos.
