Similarities Between Georgian and Armenian

Georgian and Armenian are both very unique languages. Although they belong to different language families, there are a words that are shared between the two languages due to a very long history of interactions. They share so much culturally and linguistically, and have influenced one another in numerous ways while living side by side for many centuries.

In this video, Gigi (Georgian speaker) and Eliza (Armenian speaker) demonstrate some of the commonalities between the two languages through a list of words. The Armenian language (հայերեն) is an Indo-European languages and the official language of Armenia. It is also widely spoken throughout the Armenian diaspora, with its own writing system, and divided into two standard forms, Eastern Armenian and Western Armenian, as we discussed recently on Instagram:   / cee3hs2agrn  

The Georgian language (ქართული ენა) is a Kartvelian language and the official language of Georgia. It has its own writing system and a wide range of different different dialects.
