საქართველოს პრეზიდენტი: „განსაკუთრებით იმ პირობებში, როდესაც ძალიან დიდი ვნებათა ღელვაა ამ სასახლის გარშემო, არ მინდა ეს საგანძური სადღაც ჩაიკარგოს. ამიტომ, მინდა ეს ბიბლია ყველაზე დაცულ ორგანიზაციას გადავცე და ეს არის ხელნაწერთა ინსტიტუტი, რა თქმა უნდა, ხელნაწერთა მუზეუმი, რომელიც კიდევ უფრო დიდი და მასშტაბური უნდა გახდეს. ნამდვილად არ ვედრები ექვთიმე თაყაიშვილს, თუმცა ყველა ჩვენგანის ვალია, ქართული მატერიალური, სულიერი და კულტურის ძეგლები დავუბრუნოთ ჩვენს ქვეყანას - ის, რაც გააკეთა ექვთიმე თაყაიშვილმა, საქართველოს ეროვნულმა გმირმა, რომელმაც საქართველოში, რა თქმა უნდა, ბევრად მეტი რამ ჩამოიტანა. თუკი მეც შევძელი ამის დაბრუნება, ესეც ბოლო წლების ჩემს ერთ-ერთ მიღწევად მიმაჩნია\".
საქართველოს პრეზიდენტმა დღეს ხელნაწერთა ეროვნულ ცენტრს სასახლის ერთ-ერთი მთავარი ღირსშესანიშნაობა, XI საუკუნის ხელნაწერი ბიბლია გადასცა, რომელიც მას 2004 წელს ამერიკაში ვიზიტისას გადასცეს. უძველესი ბიბლია, მოოქროვილი და ძვირფასი ქვებით მოოჭვილი ყდით, დღემდე სასახლის ცენტრალურ ჰოლს ამშვენებდა.
President of Georgia: 'Amid the controversy around this palace, I don't want this heritage to be lost somewhere. Therefore, I'd like to hand over this Bible to the most protected organization and this is the Institute of Manuscripts and of course, the Museum of Manuscripts, which should be enlarged. I am not really comparing myself to Ekvtime Takaishvili, but it is the obligation for each of us to return Georgian material, religious and cultural monuments to our country -- the same as Ekvtime Takaishvili, Georgia's national hero did, when he brought much more back to Georgia. If I could return this, then this will be one of my achievements of recent years.
President of Georgia handed over one of the main sightseeings of the President's Palace -- the hand written Bible of the XI century, to the National Center of Manuscripts today. The president was presented with the Bible during his visit to the United States in 2004. The ancient gilded Bible with the cover decorated with precious stones had been so far exposed in the central hall of the president's palace. Visit Website: http://president.gov.ge
