Ali and Nino - The Statue of Love || Batumi Georgia || Kinetic Sculpture in Batumi, Georgia
The 8-meter-tall moving steel sculpture of a man and a woman is located in the heart of Batumi city. The creator of this art is a Georgian sculptor Tamar Kvesitadze. The figures are slowly moving to each other, then they touch, and after that, they separate from each other again. This romantic scene is endless, and the visitors are always wondering what the story behind it is. It symbolically represents the attraction between the man and the woman, who are in love with each other, and on top of that, it tells us a story about Ali and Nino.
“Ali and Nino” is a famous novel from 1937 by Kurban Said, an author from Azerbaijan. It is about a love between one Muslim boy Ali, and a Georgian princess Nino. Ali belonged to the Aristocrats family, and he fell in love with Nino Kipiani, who was also from a famous family. Despite the fact that they had a different religion, they overcame all the difficulties, and they got married. However, they were separated by the invasion of Soviet Russia in Azerbaijan. When Ali had to choose between his family or the country, Ali chose to die bravely for his own country.
