This Tushetian dirge is traditionally sung by women, and the lyrics can be translated as follows:
Mother would like to die for you, my child,
she is destroyed, your own mother.
My child, where did you go with pack and shepherd's coat,
where did you leave the shepherd's staff, which was at your side?
My child, I will throw the black bridle over your horse,
let it out into forest and field.
Mother would like to die for you, my child,
she is destroyed, your own mother.
