Nino Gogokhia - Georgia's Youth Representative to the United Nations

გაეროში საქართველოს ახალგაზრდობის წარმომადგენლმა, ნინო გოგოხიამ ვირტუალურ რეჟიმში მონაწილეობა მიიღო გაეროს გენერალური ასამბლეის მესამე კომიტეტის ფარგლებში გამართულ ინტერაქციულ დიალოგში განათლების უფლების საკითხზე.
ინტერაქციული დიალოგის ფარგლებში სპეციალური მომხსენებლები იყვნენ:
1. მიგრანტების უფლებების საკითხებში, ბატონი ფელიპე გონზალეზ მორალესი
2. ყველა მიგრანტი მუშაკისა და მათი ოჯახის წევრების უფლებების დაცვის კომიტეტის თავმჯდომარე, ბატონი კან უნვერი
3. სპეციალური მომხსენებელი განათლების უფლების საკითხებში, ქალბატონი კუმბუ ბოლი ბარი
ნინო გოგოხიამ გააკეთა კომენტარი მიგრანტებისთვის განათლების უფლების საკითხზე.

We all agree that the right to education is one of the fundamental rights and a vital precondition for achieving sustainable development.
However, we also have migrants and know how challenging it is for any of them firstly - to access educational facilities and quality educational opportunities abroad, and secondly – to not forget their roots and have an opportunity to keep in touch with the Georgian educational system by participating in educational activities for migrants.
Fortunately, during my mandate as United Nations Youth Delegate, I have started collaborating with Diaspora Alliance for Georgia and leading its Youth Sector. With the help of the Diaspora Alliance for Georgia and the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, today we have more than 500 youth migrants participating in educational and cognitive activities, including learning Georgian Language, Culture, History, Writing, etc.
This project was an idea of people believing in the power of togetherness and Empowerment. If I, 23 years old girl, an Internally displaced person from Abkhazia, Georgia, a believer person, can play my honorable role in achieving SDG 4, imagine what a billion young leaders can do.
Meanwhile, the prohibition of education in the native language in the Russia-occupied territories of Georgia remains one of the significant concerns, depriving thousands of schoolchildren of the right to get an education in the native Georgian language. In the last months, I have met youth living across the occupation line and have listened to their stories of going through psychological pressure every day in their schools, where they can’t talk freely in the Georgian language. As I said, I am also an IDP from Abkhazia, Georgia, living on the other side of the occupation line. As I have a chance to be the voice of youth living in the occupied territories of Georgia, I am raising a voice and calling everyone to join in an action-oriented movement and believe in the power of us – the peak youth.
