Phillip Sear plays an exciting piece by the Georgian/Soviet pianist and composer Merab Partskhaladze (1924-2008).

After seeing action in World War 2, Partskhaladze (მერაბ ალექსის ძე ფარცხალაძე, Парцхаладзе, Мераб Алексеевич ) studied at the Tbilisi Conservatory, and then at the Moscow Conservatory. He remained in Moscow, first as lecturer at a choral school, and then as editor-in-chief at the state music publishing house. He wrote in many genres, including symphonic and film music, and was also known for his educational output.
