Breathtakingly wild and mysterious, Svaneti is an ancient land surrounded by the Caucasus. It is so remote that it was never conquered by any invader. Uniquely picturesque and traditional villages laying among snow-covered, 4000-5000m peaks. One of Svaneti’s emblem is the koshki which is a defensive stone tower and they were made to provide the most effective protection for the villagers against any ruler. Around 175 towers were built between the 9th and 13th centuries and they are still standing on the proud land of Svaneti.
We had the chance to spend a week in the village of Ushguli and explore the area from there. It was one of the most amazing time during our travels. An unforgettable adventure and this film was made to present some details of the Ushguli experience.
