▶ SYNOPSIS
BANDITS (2003) is a story of victims, survivors and myths. The documentary retraces the roots of the escapade of a group of Georgians in their twenties who hijacked an Aeroflot passenger plane on November 18, 1983 from Tbilisi. The terrorists’ attempt to escape Soviet Union and fly abroad into the \"free world\" of the glittering west failed. What started out as a naive fantasy quickly became a nightmare, whose events left an indelible mark on the psyche of both - victims and survivors. The tragic story of this hijacking is the blurry part of recent Georgian narrative to this day.
