The choir \"Phazisi (ფაზისი)\" was founded in 1976 as a folk ensemble of the Georgian SSR Academy of Sciences (მეცნიერებათა აკადემია საქართველოს სსრ-ისა). It was lead by Robert Gogolashvili (რობერტ გოგოლაშვილი, *1939), succeeded in 1983 by Jumber Kolbaia (ჯუმბერ ყოლბაია, 1944-2017). Kolbaia had a still existing YouTube channel, on which some live recordings of the choir can be found.
