Georgian Railway Review (Tbilisi Central to Tbilisi Airport) - The Worst Train in Europe?

01.07.2020 11:29

Hello, welcome to a very exciting video! For this train trip report, I am in Georgia, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, near to the Caucasus Mountains. On this trip I used a few particularly dubious trains, including this ER2 electric unit, which I believe could well be the worst train in Europe! Admittedly the ticket did only cost 13p, but it was still a comical journey to undertake. The ER2 is a very abundant train, around the former Soviet Union, but also with derivatives seeing use within the Balkans. They were all built in Riga, Latvia. With such a diverse range of places they serve, many have received some strange modifications, but some are largely untouched since they began service all those many years ago... This example (ER2-631) is one of the untouched examples, with much evidence to prove that to the passengers. See why I think this train could be the 'Worst Train in Europe' in this video, it's an interesting experience for sure! Note: Sorry for the poor camerawork on this one, Georgia is quite a bit further than anywhere else I have been, and I wasn't sure how they would react to filming. The neighbouring country of Azerbaijan had a large objection to my attempts at photography and filming, so I tried to play it safe. Hope you enjoy my efforts anyway! :) --- Journey Details: Origin: Tbilisi-Tsentralny / Tbilisi-Pass Destination: Airport (Tbilisi) Company: საქართველოს რკინიგზა (Georgian Railway) Train: სრ ერ2 (GR ER2) Accommodation: General Seat (2nd) Distance: 12 miles / 19 kilometres Time: 35m --- Find me elsewhere: https://superalbs.weebly.com/ https://twitter.com/superalbs Music by Vexento:    / @vexento
